Custom Orthotics

Your feet are considered your base of support, and have a direct impact on the rest of your body. Problems in your feet can cause a chain reaction of events to occur, and put stress on joints higher up in your body. This stress can lead to joint pain, poor posture, fatigue, and faulty walking mechanics. Properly made orthotics are made to correct your specific foot imbalances and reduce the stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. They also provide sensory information to your brain about what your feet are doing through the gait cycle.

If any of the following statements apply to you, ask Dr. Gibson if orthotics can help you:

  1. My feet are sore on a regular basis.
  2. I spend a good portion of my day standing or walking on hard surfaces.
  3. I play a sport regularly (golf, basketball, running, etc).
  4. Standing, walking or running gives me joint pain (ankle, knee, hip, or back).
  5. I have visible foot problems (bunions, fallen arches, corns, etc).
  6. I am over 40 years of age.
  7. I have one leg shorter than the other.
  8. My shoes wear out quickly or unevenly.
  9. My feet "toe out" when I walk.
  10. My parents had foot related problems.

Custom orthotics look like insoles, and there are a variety of styles to accommodate the type of shoes or boots you typically wear. A footwear collection that accommodates your orthotics is also available including sandals, causal and dress shoes, running shoes and work boots.
